When the children go to the coastguard's tower they meet the surly Mr. Curton and his lonley son Martin who have hired a cottage nearby. George returns to check on Timmy to find that Uncle Quentin has been kidnapped and is being held at gunpoint by two ruthless villains who stand to gain millions of pounds from the results of his secret experiments.
