EliziumAudio CDPlate and shell theories experienced a renaissance in recent years. The potentials of smart materials, the challenges of adaptive structures, the demands of thin-film technologies and more on the one hand and the availability of newly developed mathematical tools, the tremendous increase in computer facilities and the improvement of commercial software packages on the other caused a reanimation of the scientific interest. In the present book the contributions of the participants of the E U R O M E C H Colloquium 444 " Critical Review of the Theories of Plates and Shells and New Applications" have been collected. The aim was to discuss the common roots of different plate and shell approaches, to review the current state of the art, and to develop future lines of research. The CureAudio CDSchlicht < I> The Cure nennen The Cure dieses Album - normalerweise aber stehen selbst betitelte Werke ganz weit vorne in der Diskografie. Die 1976 als The Easy Cure in Crawley/ Sussex gegründete und zwei Jahre später in The Cure umbenannte Gruppe aber hat bis zum Herbst ihrer Karriere mit diesem Schritt gewartet. Obwohl: Das mit dem Herbst muss sich noch herausstellen. Schon oft wurde das Ende von Robert Smith und seinen Mannen orakelt. Doch der Cure-Mastermind, dessen Haarpracht immer noch aussieht, als hätte jemand auf dem Rücken liegenden Spinnen die Beine verdreht, hat alle Totsagungen überlebt, mehr noch: Der Kult um The Cure steigert und steigert sich. Erst schien nach der Bloodflowers-Tour 2001 Schluss zu sein, dann endgültig mit der Beendigung des Uraltvertrages mit dem Label Fiction. Robert gehe solo, hieß es. Doch es folgt unerwartet die triumphale Kurz-Tour Dark Trilogy und dann sickert durch: The Cure gehen ins Studio, und zwar nicht mit irgendeinem Produzenten, sondern mit dem Mischpulthexer Ross Robinson, der gerne mit Lärm-Bands wie Korn, Limp Bizkit, At The Drive-In, Slipknot, Soulfly oder The Blood Brothers arbeitet. Diese " Ross-Kur" hat den Briten hörbar gut getan, denn Nu-Metal-Guru Robinson, gleichzeitig Besitzer des Labels I A M (auf dem The Cure unterzeichnet haben), wollte etwas anderes. Er wollte The Cure live als Band im Studio. So haben die Briten nur ganz zu Beginn ihrer langen Karriere Songs aufgenommen, und deshalb passt der Titel < I> The Cure. Zudem gelang es Robinson, den ganzen Cure'schen Bombast sowie Pathos und Epik klein zu halten, ohne dass das dichte und einzigartige Klangbild Schaden genommen hat. Ein paar Pop-Elemente haben die Veränderung überlebt, ansonsten aber ist < I> The Cure atmosphärisch finster, kraftvoll, variantenreich in Härte und Tempo und sehr von den Gitarren bestimmt. Vom Ende der Fürsten des dunklen New Waves kann keine Rede sein. < I>-Sven Niechziol |

All Our Yesterdays (Best of)Audio CDWie der Titel schon erahnen lässt, birgt All Our Yesterdays wahrlich nichts Neues von den experimentell-psychotischen A S F. Dafür gibt's aber hier die komplette Indie-Chart-Single-Collection inklusive dem raren " I Walk The Line". Gerade aber diese Releases sind es, wo Alien Sex Fiend es noch bravurös verstanden haben, ihre eigenwillig strukturierten Soundcollagen mit einem bizarren Flair von krankem Chaos zu versehen. Was hier noch pathologisch frisch klingt und durchaus an den Nerven zerrt, konnte bei späteren Produktionen jedoch nicht mehr in dieser Form, beziehungsweise in dieser Tiefe reproduziert werden. So hinterlässt All Our Yesterdays einen düster trashigen Eindruck aus der ersten Schaffensdekade dieser Band. -Wally W. |
